                   About “Qingster”

Qing Fan is the founder and principal photographer of “Qingster Photography”.  After graduating as a Doctor from the Capital Medical University in Beijing, Qing worked both in the Medical Supplies Industry (including Siemens International) and in an Advertising Agency.

Qing received key training in fashion design, painting and photography from Guangzhou’s Fine Arts University and she also won the “Ready-to-Wear” section of the Graduation Competition of a well-regarded Private Fashion Training school in Guangzhou.

Following this encouraging beginning, Qing started her own Fashion Design Studio in Beijing & Shanghai. This is where the “Qingster” label was born.

After moving to New Zealand in late 2012 and deciding to concentrate switch from fashion to Photography, Qing’s first major commission was to be the Official Photographer at Hospice Wairarapa’s 2013 “Wine Auction and Food Fiesta” fund raiser. And springing from her work as one of the Official Photographers for the 2014 Martinborough Olive Harvest Festival, Qing was she was able to go on and provide vivid and well-received images for several Olive Oil producers and restaurants in the area.

Indeed, images Qing created for Lot Eight Olive Oil appeared in “Cuisine Magazine” and also in Wellington’s “Capital” magazine and her work has several times been used by local suppliers as their chosen Online Image for the popular “Visa Wellington on a Plate” Culinary Festival and Competition.

Given her background in the Fashion Industry, it was natural for Qing to produce promotional wedding gown images for “Astra Bridal” and one of her images, shot at Wharekauhau Lodge, was chosen to be the front cover of the (Autumn - Winter 2015 issue) of the Wairarapa Lifestyle Magazine.

Later, a re-edited version of one of the images from this Astra Bridal / Wharekauhau Lodge shoot won a Silver Award in the 2016 NZIPP Iris Awards Classic Portrait category. And another image, an atmospheric work of a pregnant woman achieved a "Silver with Distinction" Award in the NZIPP Creative Portrait category.
